These are colorful, edible necklaces that make great gifts. Be sure and check with your local Health Department about selling food if you want to sell these. I do not suggest putting your
initials or number on these necklaces. You don't want to mix glass beads and candy together.
To see some examples of this kind of beadword jewelry, go to my website. There are five examples made out of jelly beans and bubble gum balls.
Set out the pattern of the necklace first to make sure you have enough of the right colored candies. For solid candies like jellybeans, use a sewing needle that's big enough for you to get
a tight grip on. Thread about two inches of wire through the needle and bend it back and twist it around the wire a few times. That should hold it. For jellybeans, I suggest sticking the needle
through the middle of the candy instead of lengthwise. Keep a dish of water handy to keep the needle and wire wet so they'll go through the jellybeans easier. Bon appetit!
Greeting Cards
Here are some very unique gifts or merchandise. It's a new concept in greeting cards. They not only send a card, but a gift as well.
Make or buy some blank cards with matching envelopes. On the front of the card write a message like, "Happy birthday Auntie Marcia. I Love you. Ted." When she opens it up she'll find a beadword
necklace with the same message on it! Wow! Neat!
You should also include a flyer to tell her how to read it. Place the rolled-up necklace inside a little envelope and glue it to one side of the inside of the card. Below it put a folded-up flyer
inside another envelope and glue it below the necklace. Make sure the flap of the envelope is out so it can be opened up. The other side of the inside of the card could be left blank for a personal
message.
Eat your heart out Hallmark!
When making these I use bugle beads (TJ1) or E beads (TJ2). They're easier to read from a distance. Cut a long piece of wire or just use the wire as it comes off the spool. Put on the message. If
you're using bugle beads (TJ1) and you don't want to use nine beads for the spacer beads, you can put in something shorter, as long as the words are distinctly separated. Initial, number, and do the
crimp bead thing, and hang it up! I made one that says "MAKE A JOYFUL NOISE" and hung it above my piano.
