Sealing, Clasps, And Double Jump Rings

IMPORTANT! Proofread your necklaces before you seal them. One misplaced bead can spell a whole new word. I made one necklace that was supposed to say "Jesus is Lord," but I misplaced a bead and it came out "Jesus is Ford." (I'm a General Motors man myself.)

Sealing

To seal in the beads, refer back to: Two Ways To Keep Beads On Wire - Sealed Method, page 2.

Spring Ring Clasps (SRC)

I use 7mm. SRC. Before you attach a SRC, check to make sure it works! If it sticks then don't use it. It will stick in the open position and the necklace will fall off and get lost. I recommend buying top quality SRC in sealed containers and not in the open trays at the bead stores. The open trays have been picked over and a lot of them don't work. Don't waste your time.

To attach SRC, force open the tiny attaching ring by pushing the tip of the RTJP through it. If it won't open, then cut through the chrome plating that has glued the ring together where it should come apart. I use a fingernail clipper, but not the one I use to cut wire. That one should stay as sharp as possible. If you can't see where the tiny attaching ring comes apart, look at it under a magnifying glass. With top quality SRC, you should never have this problem.

IMPORTANT! Remember to put the clasp on the left side of the necklace. We read from left to right and the clasp always marks the left side. (Not to confuse you, but when you put on a beadword necklace the left side of the necklace should go on your right side. That's so people who are looking at you can read it.)

Put the wire loop inside the open tiny attaching ring. Put the tip of the RTJP inside the open tiny attaching ring and pull both sides together.

Double Jump Rings (DJR)

To attach a DJR slide Dull Knife Blade (DKB) through rings to separate them. Position the DJR so that the an end is separated from the ring. Pull the wire loop over the end of the ring. Remove DKB. Use pliers to hold DJR. Hold the necklace with your hand. Turn the DJR so the wire loop goes into the middle of the DJR.
