Many people believe they shouldn’t constantly talk to God or they’ll “jam up the phone lines.” They needn’t worry. God is capable of listening to the prayers of all six billion of us at one time because He exists outside our time dimension.

God actually exists in eleven different dimensions. We exist in only four: height, length, depth, and time. God can spend a thousand years listening to, contemplating, and answering all the prayers He’s getting this minute, and be ready for all the prayers He will get the next minute.

Through prayer we can cross over into the other dimensions God exists in and talk directly to Him. Because of this, prayer is extremely powerful. The Bible even gives us special cautions and restrictions on its use.

*We are all God’s handiwork, and it is appropriate for us as individuals and as a nation to call on him in prayer. (2367) (Ronald Reagan)

*If we worry, why pray. If we pray, why worry. (562)

*Every evening I turn my worries over to God. He’s going to be up all night anyway. (2768) (Mary C. Crowley)

*Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. The Lord’s Prayer Matthew 6:9-15 KJV (23)

*Our heavenly Father, we thank thee for food ands remember the hungry. We thank thee for health and remember the sick. We thank thee for friends and remember the friendless. We thank thee for freedom and remember the enslaved. May these remembrances stir us to service, that thy gifts to us may be used for others. In Jesus’ name. Amen (88) (adapted from Dear Abby)

*God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference. The Serenity Prayer. (2432)

*Pray for peace and grace and spiritual food, for wisdom and guidance, for all these are good, but don’t forget the potatoes. Petee (2052) (John Tyler Petee)

*Thank you, oh Lord, for these delectable vittles. May they add to your glory and not to our middles. (2434)

*Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep. Forgive my doing what was wrong, and make me pure and wise and strong. (2400) (revised by Casper Schenk)
